Live Music Management supply live wedding bands and DJs to literally hundreds of weddings per annum so when a client asked recently “What’s your most memorable wedding?” we had to pause for thought.
Could it have been the time when Freak Out played at Polhawn Fort NR Torpoint in Cornwall? This is a lovely venue and the band have fond memories of the fantastic views from the wedding venue.
Was it the one and only time a wedding has been held on the roof of Temple Walkabout , a venue overlooking the Thames? On this day all the Live Music Management staff gathered together to celebrate our colleagues marriage and we had a marvellous day in the sunshine on the roof of the venue being entertained by a string quartet and then retired to the backroom of the venue where a series of bands entertained us through to the early hours.
Could it have been the wedding at Spitbank Fort? Spitbank is probably one of the most unusual wedding venues in the UK. Guests and entertainment have to travel across to the venue by speedboat and the venue itself is really like a James Bond villains lair!
One wedding that sticks in my mind is the wedding of a lovely couple who actually met at Newquay Walkabout whilst watching a band called Union Jack. Several years later they were delighted to find that the band were still together and they booked them for their big day. An honour for both the band and Live Music Management.
My colleague Alex suggested that his most memorable wedding might be the wedding in India for 5,000 guests. For this one we had to put a bespoke band together to play instrumental versions of pop hits. Our twelve piece band travelled to the show , played a great set and then slept on a sleeper train which was parked behind their hotel because the hotel had let their rooms by the time they came to check in! Nonetheless the band were delighted to have performed and came away with great memories of India and a huge wedding celebration.
Personally I would nominate all the weddings when we have been lucky enough to speak to the Bride and Groom and offer honest advise. Maybe they didn’t really know what kind of music they wanted at their wedding or they maybe had an idea but didn’t know what act would pull it off. On occasion we have been able to help someone get the right act for their budget when they had become despondent thinking that nothing suitable would be available for them. Often we will get a personal thank you after the wedding . They usually say that our band or DJ made the night and that their guests have been praising them for their good choice and great taste in music. I have to say that this is what the staff at Live Music Management thrive on. We pride ourselves on making great memories.
