Todays blog is mainly a big thank you to the party bands who performed at the showcase for the military client up in Leeds on Tuesday. The bands did Live Music Management proud with fantastic short sets that were really impressive. Their professionalism between sets was fantastic particularly given the traffic issues (the M1 was closed just before Leeds at a crucial period during the evening) which meant that we had to improvise with the order of acts according to which band arrived first.
Tuesday was one of those nights when there is real job satisfaction attached to working for Live Music Management. Seeing the seven bands perform, all with their different styles and sets, I recognised that Live Music Management represent the very best in function bands and acoustic duos . My nephew who is not involved in the entertainment industry but who has a massive love of live music was blown away by the standard of the acts playing on Tuesday night in Maluko. The client commented several times that they were almost spoilt for choice as the bands were all so good. We even had two random customers come up to us and try and book bands for events (one for her daughters wedding after she heard the band playing as she walked past the venue and one from a guy who , fresh from the gym, heard a band performing and took a card in order to book them for a Bikers Rally!)
Another thing that was very apparent on Tuesday was the friendliness and lack of ego with the bands. Union Jack supplied the PA and did the sound for all the acts and they put as much effort into making everyone else sound good as they did in making themselves look and sound good. All the bands were very complimentary about each other and even sent me text messages after the showcase saying how much they had enjoyed watching each other. This contrasts greatly with other agencies showcases that I have attended over the years when , frankly , it can sometimes be a very tense and bitchy atmosphere .
So thanks go out to The Sun , Freak Out , Tom W , Union Jack , Move It Like Friday , Chris Stocks and Boom. A special thanks should also go out to Becci and the management team at Maluko in Leeds who made us feel most welcome. The client and bands who had not set foot in the venue before were all very impressed by the décor and atmosphere in this great city centre two scene venue.
