Live Music Management attended the re opening party for Bristol Walkabout last night. It was a fantastic night and this newly refurbished city centre venue looks amazing with its high definition big screens and funky Antipodean décor.
A couple of Live Music Management acts were playing at the venue (regular readers will know that our involvement with supplying Walkabouts with their entertainment goes back close to seventeen years. ) Party DJ Lee Stewart was manning the DJ decks in the fabulous new look DJ booth which overlooks the dance floor and seated cocktails and food part of the bar. The music mix was perfect with all tastes catered for and a music profile which picked the best of chart music from the last five years with some select anthems from the past thrown in for good measure.
The live entertainment for the night were London based party band Brainscape who were simply stunning during their early evening acoustic sets which provided background music for the assembled diners and early bird crowd. Later they went electric and played an eclectic mix of party pop and rock tunes. Any band who can include in their set songs by Jesse J , Bruno Mars , Tina Turner and Lincoln Park and sound convincing on all of them gets my money every time.
There was a section of Brainscapes set where they took requests from the audience (something they do at their very successful Butlin’s residencies ) and during this section when they were unable to play the Taylor Swift song requested by a lady audience member they settled upon covering a Shania Twain song instead (a slightly older country pop icon but along the right lines!) They nailed the song and the difficult , high vocal line as they did on the next request which was Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart.”
We would like to take this opportunity to wish the manager Mike and his staff all the best in their newly decorated venue. It really is a stunning refurb and a great addition to the cool and vibrant Bristol night life. Resident DJs Lee And Dino are really looking forward to welcoming the people of Bristol to the venue over this weekend . Its going to be a great place to eat , drink and party.
